Community Service History

I have had a strong sense of community my entire life, and I have found great reward in serving the places in which I have lived. The following is a history of my community service:

    • Austin Christian Fellowship (ACF), Sunday School teacher at ACF’s Camp Fun 
    • Former Board Member of the American Cancer Society, Central Texas Region
    • Former Board of River Place Elementary’s PTA as Vice President of Fundraising. 
    • Retired Founder and Executive Director of River Place Student Theatre
    • Graduate of Experience Austin-2007  (Austin’s community leadership program)
    • Community Leadership San Jose/Silicon Valley (class of 1998-99)
    • United Way Silicon Valley
    • Former board member of InnVision the Way Home (organization serving the homeless in San Jose)
    • KTEH Public Television
    • Occupational Industrialization Center, West (OICW)
    • Served on the event committee for Courageous Kids 2007 (an American Cancer Society event) where I volunteers my public relations services. 
    • In June 2006, I was named “Volunteer of the Month” by Greenbelt Alliance for my guidance in helping to create San Jose’s historic, first-ever environmental issues forum for five of the six 2006 mayoral candidates on May 15, 2006.
    • Served as a volunteer press relations consultant for the Chuck Reed for Mayor Campaign.
    • The Atlantic Council of the United States.
    • Congressional Staff Intern for Representative Richard A. Gephardt during his tenure as Democratic Majority Leader
